Brian V. Hunt
Dilettant, bon vivant, sybarite and a lover of words (not all of them big ones like those that open this sentence). I'm guilty on all counts.
About words, however, I'm quite overly serious. I believe in the power of words to change the world (not my words, mind you). I work with words every day and I'm fascinated by how they can influence behavior for good or ill.
What I do
I'm the director of Search Engine Optimization at Gravitate Design Studio.
I was a content publishing lead at Microsoft for ten years (almost fifteen years total at MSFT). Being a private pilot, I happily worked for years on several versions of Flight Simulator among many other products. You can view my professional portfolio and resume on my web site.
I specialize in writing copy that converts traffic into customers for small to medium business web sites, corporate web sites, and B2B sell sheets.
Archaeology and Egyptology
I'm also an amateur archaeologist and Egyptologist who works with one of the exceptional teams in those fields, led by Dr. Mark Lehner.
Along a meandering stream of serendipity, I met Dr. Lehner in 2003, after decades of having been an extremely avid student of archaeology and Egyptology. Through work I did for his organization, AERA, I was invited to fulfill a lifelong dream to dig with his team in Egypt.
This was not my first trip to Egypt. I first went alone in 1996 and have since made an additional nine visits, most of them to work with AERA. I love Egypt and the Egyptians and will, I'm sure, return again.
Harleys
I hate loud noises but I love Harley Davidsons. After nearly two decades of riding motorcycles, I purchased my first Harley in 2010.
Airplanes
I used to fly airplanes. My longest trip was solo from Seattle to Phoenix in a Beechcraft Sundowner in 1982. That was an adventure! It wasn't exactly Lindbergh crossing the Atlantic but there were some long, lonely stretches across open spaces with very little radio traffic. Obviously I made it safely back, adding about 23 hours to my log book.
Ezines like HubPages are a terrific way to practice the craft of writing, share information, and get visibility back to your own web site. I'm happy to be here.
