How to Add Images in Hubs

A HubBuddy was wondering how to add images interspersed within her text in Hubs. I'm pretty technically savvy but when I started writing hubs, this one took me a few minutes to figure out.

Images, text, ads, and such on HubPages are contained in what are called "capsules." If you've created hubs, you know that a hub by default has a photo capsule, a text capsule, and a comments capsule.

You can put an image in the photo capsule, which by default appears at the top of the hub, aligned right, like the one here.

If you begin typing in the default text box, you'll want to stop writing at the point where you want to add another image. (You can add an image in the midst of text later and I'll describe that below.)

To add a photo in the midst of your text, you need to add another photo capsule.

To add a photo capsule

  1. In the upper right corner of the hub screen, find the Add More Capsules toolbox.
  2. Click the photo capsule icon.

The capsule is added to the bottom of the Capsule Ordering box.

Four Keys to Active Listening She stopped me and said, "You're not listening like a girl."

How to Write (Like an Egyptian) Next time writer’s block has you stuck for a subject, follow these steps and then write like an Egyptian.

To move the photo capsule

  1. Scroll down to the Capsule Ordering box.
  2. Drag the new photo capsule from the bottom of the box to a position just below the first text box.
  3. Click the Reorder Now button.

Now you can add an image to the new photo capsule.

Since you stopped writing to add an image, you'll want to add another text capsule to continue writing. Be sure to reorder the text capsule to the desired position.

You can continue adding capsules and reordering them all you like. It's a good idea to use the Preview button to see how they really appear during this process.

Inserting images later

This is a little trickier, as I discovered a couple of times after having written long hubs that I subsequently wanted to add images to.

  1. Find the spot where you want to insert the image.
  2. Click Edit on that text capsule.
  3. Highlight the text below the point where you want to insert the image.
  4. Press CTRL+X to cut the text.
  5. Add a new text capsule.
  6. Click Edit on that text capsule.
  7. Press CTRL+V to paste the cut text into the new text capsule and then click Save.
  8. Reorder the capsule where you want it.

My pleasure, Petra. I used to be a tech writer so it comes naturally. Besides, you gave me a great idea for a hub!

How to you add images in an organized way, aligned either left or right with the text wrapping around it? I know you can put the image above the text box and click the right arrow to align it to the right side, but that doesn't give you any control. I want a title with several items listed underneath that all have text wrapping around an image of the item.

I have the same question. Why isn't there an align left option?
